Lying Lips

Elsie, a popular nightclub singer, refuses to go out with the customers at the request of the white owner of the club. The owner decides to get Benjamin, the black manager of the club, to talk to Elsie and try to persuade her to cooperate. Benjamin refuses and quits his job. Benjamin tells Elsie of his conversation with the owner and persuades Elsie to stay on because she is popular and can make a lot of money, but he warns her to be careful. Elsie stays, but still refuses to date the customers. Later, the owner hires John and Clyde, Elsie's uncles, to replace Benjamin. One evening, after the club closes, Elsie goes home and finds at her horror that her aunt, who lives with her, is dead. She calls the police and they discover that her aunt has been murdered by a single blow in the head. It is prior to the commencement of World War II, and Japan's fiendish Black Dragon Society is hatching an evil plot with the Nazis. The Painted Hills, also known as Lassie's Adventures in the Goldrush, is a 1951 action film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and directed by Harold F. Kress. Adapted by True Boardman from Alexander Hull's novel Shep of the Painted Hills, the film stars Paul Kelly (actor), Ann Doran, and dog actor Pal (dog actor) (credited as "Lassie") in a story about a collie named Shep who seeks revenge after her master is murdered. Technical Advisor Nipo T. Strongheart for Native Americans in the United States topics worked with the Miwok people for their role in the movie. Charlie Chaplin's 50th Film released In 1918. (put together by Essanay from unfinished Chaplin films two years after he had left the company) Triple Trouble was a silent film released in 1918. It starred Charlie Chaplin, Edna Purviance and Leo White. This film was not an official Chaplin film, even thought it has many Chaplin directed scenes. The film was produced and edited by Essanay Films, with Leo White as director for new scenes. The actual film was created from left over film stock Essanay Films had in their collection. Since Chaplin did not own the copyright during his time with Essanay, he had no control over its release. It was made up from left over scenes from Police and from an unfinished Chaplin film called Life. Leo White filled in the rest. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as "the Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told." Africa Speaks! is a 1930 American documentary film directed by Walter Futter and narrated by Lowell Thomas. Paul L. Hoefler heads a 1928 expedition to Africa. Although the film was shot over the fourteen months of the expedition in the Serengeti of Uganda, a scene involving an attack by a lion on a native was apparently staged at the Selig Polyscope Company in Los Angeles and involved a toothless lion. Hoefler wrote a book entitled Africa Speaks about the expedition that was published in 1931.
